John Kilpatrick

born 1804

The original immigrants of the Kilpatrick line came as a family from Ireland in 1848 escaping the Potato Famine. Mother and father Sarah and John, aged about 32, and their children Sarah, Eliza(beth), Thomas, and John arrived in New York after sailing from Belfast.

After arriving in New York in 1848, I find the entire family on the 1850 census living in Philadelphia, but John is listed as unemployed. I have not found their 1860 census, but by the 1870 census they are living in Ansonia (borough of Derby at this point), Connecticut, which is where the family stayed and joined with our other lines.

I still have research to do on this line but thought I would share what I have so far.
